DoorBell DevRel

AI-generated developer videos at scale, with almost no production code. A live test of what adaptive content looks like when making one more video costs almost nothing.

What does developer content look like when making one more video costs almost nothing? DoorBell is how I went looking for the answer instead of speculating about it.

It generates DevRel videos at scale with very little code. The interesting result is not the videos themselves. It is what becomes possible once production cost drops toward zero: content that adapts to the audience, the topic, or the moment, because there is no longer a per-video budget forcing you to pick a single version and commit.

Keep it live, or the thesis dies

I keep it at doorbell-devrel.timbenniks.dev because the honest conclusions only show up when real people watch the output. Some of what it produces is genuinely useful. Some of it is obviously a machine talking. Both outcomes teach me where the line sits today, and that line is moving fast.

This is an experiment, and I am comfortable calling it that. The repo is public. The backlog still has the unglamorous bits (share pages, less logic, more automation) because the point was never a polished product. The point was to feel the cost of one more video approach zero and write down what that does to taste.
